For Traditional & Same Sex Marriages
Both parties must appear in person to
obtain a VA marriage license
Cost of License: $30.00
Waiting Period: None
Valid: 60 days from the date of
Age: must be 18 years old to marry
Blood Test Required: No
Witnesses: No witnesses are
needed for the signing of the certificate
Must bring ID (valid driver license,
passport, or military ID) And if you're previously married, you have to
provide a copy of your divorce decree.
Who Can Perform Your Marriage
Your marriage can be performed by a clergy, minister
or celebrant who has been authorized by a Circuit Court of
Virginia to celebrate the rites of matrimony.
After the marriage ceremony I will complete and sign
both forms of the marriage license and forward both documents to the Clerk
of the Court who issued the license within 5 days after the ceremony
It does not matter which marriage
bureau in Virginia you get your marriage license. The marriage
license will be good for use anywhere in the Common Wealth of VA.

Virginia does not provide an official
copy of the marriage license for the couple to receive the day of the
