Walking a new path together as spouse and spouse should be exciting.  And I would love to assist you in tying the knot in DC, MD, or VA.    Serving our same-gender loving couples is an honor and a privilege that I find very inspiring.  And if you're getting married in DC, I can even apply for your marriage license via proxy.  This will help you spend less time in DC.   As a trained spiritual science minister with a modern-day style, you will find that I come with a wealth of experience.  Does this training set me apart from the rest of the officiants you find online.   Yes it does.  I work by a strong code of ethics that defines who I am,  how I work with you as a couple, and and how I handle my ministry.    But what really sets me apart is my style of delivery, my commitment to serve all couples regardless of the spiritual or non-spiritual path they walk, and my personality.  No one can duplicate the real me.   I have officiated more than 1000 ceremonies for couples of diverse backgrounds.    The ceremony can be uplifting in a spiritual, civil, or religious style.    And traveling to the wedding site is not a problem.  I will come to a home (in an open minded community), garden, park, mansion, banquet hall, country club, ballroom, hotel, restaurant, yacht, etc.       Want to know my fees?   Gay & Lesbian Marriages $395 (Within the Washington DC & Baltimore Metro Areas) areas beyond the DC & Baltimore Metropolitan area will be charged a mileage fee each way.   Rehearsals (same venue as wedding) $150 (Within the Washington DC & Baltimore Metro Areas)   Elopements (5 guests) your location of choice, no holidays $250 (weekdays) - $300 (weekends)   DC Quick I Do (limited location) (couple only, M-F, 11 am - 3 pm) $150 (no marriage license proxy services included)   DC Historic  Church in Dupont Circle  - Wedding Packages Just Us   $375 / $575 Fabulous 5: $450 / $675  Grateful 10: $525 / $775 Exceptional 15: $600 / $875  (includes church sanctuary and my officiating services)   1hour After Ceremony Photo-shoot with Starlene $359 (couple only - for elopements or popup weddings at the ceremony site)   DC Marriage License Processing Via Proxy $145 (this service is not included in any of the above fees)       Upon booking your wedding with me, you will receive a free ceremony workbook (large weddings only) with sample ceremonies, rituals, and lovely readings.  In addition, you will receive a personalized draft ceremony.   My fees are based on the work I do.  For customized ceremonies, the fee is based on writing and revising the ceremony, traveling to and from the wedding site, rehearsal attendance (when needed), wedding party direction and coordination (if needed), my time corresponding with you, officiating the ceremony, signing and mailing the marriage license, and (if applicable) a holiday wedding fee ($60 is added to the base cost).   You may reserve your wedding date and time only with a $100 nonrefundable  deposit and signed contract.  I normally collect this fee at the conclusion of our first meeting (in person or over the phone).  The balance is due 60 days before the ceremony.     About Me   I am, Reverend Starlene Joyner Burns (pictured in the middle), a nondenominational minister, marriage advocate,  professional photog, artist, and the founder and director of SJB Ministries LLC and God's Center for Divine Healing.  After four consecutive years of ministerial study at the National Spiritual Science Center in Washington DC (and as part of my program), I became an ordained minister of Spiritual Science.   And I currently serve the center as an associate minister.   In addition, I am a compassionate, ethical, and dedicated spiritual leader.  So I will work hard with you to ensure that your wedding is memorable.  There are times I am asked, "Why do you do this" (perform same sex weddings)?   My answer, I have always been a rebel.  Standing on the frontlines of the marriage equality fight in MD along with other clergy is demonstration of my commitment for equality.  In retrospect, I have stood up for the rights of others all my life.  This is a part of who I am, and a part of me that I am proud of.    It's was not easy stepping out as a straight ally and standing up publicly for marriage equality.  But the surprising part, was how people on both sides of the issue responded to me.    No one can hold their tongue in the face of injustice.  And people like me never think about consequences.  We just act on faith.    You will find me pictured (above) with the MD governor and other clergy who took a stand for our LGBT people to marry in Maryland.     My territory  Washington DC; Maryland: Prince Georges County, Calvert County, St. Mary's County, Charles County, Montgomery Count, Howard County; Anne Arundel County, Frederick County; Carroll County; Baltimore County, and Baltimore City; Northern Virginia: Arlington County, Fairfax County, Prince Williams County, Richmond VA, and New York City (Manhattan, NY)   Important (this is the law) DC Marriage License can only be used in Washington DC. MD Marriage License can only be used in the county in which it was issued.
