Congratulations! You're coming to DC to tie the knot. If you have been wanting to get married inside a church, then lets make it happen.
If not, that's ok too. There are other options for you.
Inside a church or outside of one, your ceremony can have the same rich flavor as a traditional church wedding. And if you want something small, intimate, and elegant for just the two of you (waterfront or land), that service is available as well.
I am Rev. Starlene Joyner Burns, an open straight ally for marriage equality. You see me pictured below with our wonderful Governor Martin O'Malley of Maryland. During the months of January - March 2012; we (many great supporters: gay, straight, and transgender) worked tirelessly and stood with our governor to get the Defense
of Marriage Protection Act bill passed.
My services to our LGBT people began long before the passing of the marriage equality bill in MD and DC. And my standing with Governor O'Malley was my public outing as a straight ally. Those of you who know, straight allies are treated no differently than our LGBT people.
Regardless of that, I continue my support for marriage equality by demonstrating it (in the face of opposition and boycotts) with financial contributions and services that include, officiating marriages for our LGBT people in churches and venues throughout Washington, DC. I have been officiating same sex ceremonies since 2004, way before marriage equality was won in DC. Now, I want to help you to have the wedding of your dreams (big, small, quick, religious, spiritual, or secular) in Washington, DC.
It does not matter if you get married in the chapel, sanctuary, or library of a church, I just want to make sure that option is available to you.
Your wedding can take place in my office at Pennsylvania Avenue & 6th Street, NW (located adjacent to the DC Superior Court), the DC waterfront, a restaurant, hotel suite, or a park. It can even take place at the Tidal Basin near one of DC's historic memorials, or near the US Capitol or US Supreme Court.
I can also help you plan your wedding in DC with a few helpful suggestions. From applying for the marriage license to walking down the aisle; I will be there to guide you.
And most importantly, I can even apply for your license for you, making it easy for you to marry in DC on the first trip.
I am so proud to live and work in the DC Metropolitan area because offering same sex marriages here says that we have evolved.

Do you want a legal marriage?
I can help make that happen by applying for your marriage license in DC and officiating your DC marriage.
Do you want to get married upon arrival?
I can arrange that.
Here's how it work, I will file and pickup your marriage license for you. You will provide me with all the necessary paperwork, and I will deliver it to the DC Marriage Bureau on your behalf. It's that easy.
Do you want to be treated fairly?
This is not a problem. Most couples I serve tell me that's so important to them. I respect all my couples no matter their belief, lifestyle or relationship. And I officiate religious, secular (civil), and spiritual ceremonies.
All vendor recommendations I provide, support same gender loving couples right to marry.
Is coming to DC scary for you?
Let me take the fear out of it. DC is a gay friendly town. And Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, and downtown DC will welcome your stay with open arms.
Want to know how much it might cost to get married in DC?
I can only estimate what your elopement or small wedding would cost:
$500 - $2500. Here's a breakdown.

If you're considering getting married at the DC Marriage Bureau and processing your own marriage license, here's what you need to know:
Be prepared to wait 1 - 3 hours to process your marriage application.
Read the parking signs and make sure you comply with the parking rules. Parking violations can cost up to $100 (+ towing).
Have enough quarters (8 minutes/quarter) for 3 hours of meter parking. But you have to move your car after the first 2 hours. Credit cards can be used. And don't park from 3:30 pm on in the rush hour lane.
Be prepared to past through security. Jackets, purses, bags, and you must pass through a metal detector.
If you are applying for the marriage license, leave your camera behind. Otherwise, security will confiscate it. And you will have to retrieve it upon departure.
Monday - Friday (except holidays) the DC Marriage Bureau performs weddings by appointment.
You cannot be more than 15 minutes late for your ceremony.
You should be prepared to wait 1/2 -2 hours for your marriage ceremony to take place (just in case the assigned officiant is delayed).
As your DC wedding officiant (and for a fee), I will go to the DC Marriage Bureau for you and process your marriage application for you. Therefore, I could perform your ceremony where you want and the time you desire.
